The videos below were created by Matthias Shapiro, a software programmer, who uses common objects we are all familiar with to explain large numbers and show how politicians present budget information to fool the general public. They are actually very good, and include some humor. (This is his YouTube channel.)
The data he uses is available to anybody who wants to take the time to find it, but the key is to put it into terms that can be comprehended. As he points on on his blog, Political Math, the only problem is that only a few people really look at the data and even fewer people understand it. So he uses his blog to explain the details for those who are either curious or skeptical.
And to finish things off, a clip showing how stupid some people are. They don’t even know what Keynesian economics is. At least one guy did. And we let these people vote!
