The Surprise Reunion

Here they are together during a visit a few years ago. Lori, in the middle, lives here in town so we get to see her, Casey and the grand-kids a lot. It was a special occasion because Michelle, on the left, would be visiting from Plainfield, Illinois, with a stop at a friends in Sacramento before coming here. The plan was for Georgia and I to pick her up at her friends and bring her back here.

At the time, Amber was living in Bruch, Germany, with her husband, Scott, who was stationed nearby at the A-10 Air Force base in Spangdahlem. What Georgia, and the other sisters, didn’t know was that I had arranged for Amber to be here too, as a big surprise for all of them.

The plan was for Amber to alert me when she was arriving so that I would not answer the door. At the pre-arranged time the doorbell rang. I pretended to be on the phone and asked Georgia to answer the door. As she opened it, I walked-up behind her and watched. At first, she just stood there. Then Amber said “Hi Mom” and she knew it was real. Lots of hugs and tears followed. Georgia later recalled that when she opened the door and saw Amber she thought she was dreaming.

When we went to pickup Michelle, Amber remained in the car. When Michelle approached the car to get in, she saw her little sister waiting with open arms. Needless to say, more tears were shed here.

Then when Lori and her family came over for dinner, Amber hid in the guest bedroom. Once they were inside while we were talking in the kitchen, Amber walked in and said “Hi.” More hugs and tears.

Needles to say, this family reunion was a wonderful time for all. Especially for me, now that I had all “The Women I Love” with me again.

Georgia

The photos below are of Georgia as a little girl and as she matured into the beautiful woman that she remains today. I love her so much it hurts. She is truly my soul-mate and makes my life complete.

This is Georgia’s senior picture. As you can see she grew into a very beautiful young woman. It is easy to understand how she made my heart go pitter-patter the first time I saw her.

Here she is on our wedding day with her brides maids.

Well, we had done it now. We were being driven off by my “Best Man” Gary Hays.

This is a shot of my sexy wife giving me the eye while ironing in our little one-bedroom apartment in Van Nuys, CA. The last time we checked, the apartment building was still there.

07-Georgia

Doesn’t she look pretty in her new coat with the faux fir collar. She deserved mink, but that is all I could afford at the time.

08-Georgia

This photo was taken during a sail-boat ride on her fathers boat. That wind-blown hair made me want to give her a big sloppy kiss. She still gives me goose-bumps today.

09-Georgia

This was taken while we lived in Placentia, California. The one that follow shows Georgia and her Mom during a visit to our place at Lake Arrowhead.

Here is Georgia in front of our house in Yorba Linda, California. After I took that photo, I gave her a great big kiss, which drew applause from some neighbors that were walking by at the time.

Many years later, at Amber’s Wedding, she looks as good as ever. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family.

Here she is in Holland, during a trip to visit Amber and Scott. Makes me think of the song, “Your Feets To Big.”

12-Georgia

I am not sure what our destination was, but looks like we were having a good time.

This photo was take about a year ago during a quick potty break while on a Sunday drive.

This is my sweetie today. She is a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. I couldn’t be happier. It is wonderful to have her by my side.

Well that’s it for Georgia. Part #2 is dedicated to our eldest daughter, Michelle.

I think you are trying to make me cry on purpose when I read your blog. I’m so lucky to have such great parents who love each other sooooooooo much :)

I thought what happened that year that we had our “reunion” was, Amber got there first and I didn’t know she was coming. You guys drove to pick me up at my friend’s house (was it just you and Amber and I surprised Mom later?… I can’t remember) and I was surprised by Amber’s visit too. Lori didn’t know either of us were coming. So when she show up at the house later us two girls came out and surprised her.

It was a great time, that’s for sure. It’s been waaaaaaaay too long since I’ve been out there. I miss you all so much :(

    Love you guys!

Gosh, you say the sweetest things! I also love you very much. I do have one comment about the wedding pictures you posted. Both pictures were at Amber’s wedding. Being a guy, guess you didn’t notice I have the same outfit on in both pictures. With three weddings going on, I would never be able to get away with wearing the same dress two times.

Keep being the best husband ever as it will make me happy and you know what they say; “When Momma’s happy, everyone is happy!”

Please send a picture of the wedding with the guys in it…I think I saw Alan in one picture…Can you believe we have all known each other from High School and we are also still together but total different lives…Joyce Rudolph

  4. Gary says:

Hi Joyce, it’s been a very long time. Say hello to Alan for me. We had some great times together didn’t we.

Actually, I believe there are three photos with you or Alan in them. I will dig them out and send them to you.

    Bye for now
