Most of you have experienced this and I am sure those of you who are polite and always wait your turn get just as mad as I do when somebody tries to squeeze in front of you at the last minute when you finally reach the exit ramp or traffic is merging.
These people make me extremely mad. They usually take one of these approaches:
- They pull over to the far right, where there is no lane, and start driving forward. They are much easier to stop because if you stay alert by watching your rear-view mirror, all you have to do is pull right a little bit to make it impossible for them to pass. Be prepared for a confrontation because people like this usually feel entitled. If my wife is in the car when I do this she gets mad and says, “You never know what these “crazies” are going to do.” Never do this in a big metropolitan city. Lots of “crazies” live there.
- Although a line on the right has formed to exit, they continue on the right lane of the freeway, and shortly before reaching front of the line, they turn right and try squeezing in front of you. I never let them in. I must admit I have had some close calls with people coming within inches of my car, but they usually move forward or back a car or two and try again.
- A variation of the above is when you are on the freeway and there is a big sign indicating that one of the lanes ahead is closed for construction or some other purpose. The best thing is to immediately get into the proper lane, but the idiots on the road just can’t seem to do that. They wait until traffic starts slowing down and then butt in the front of the line at the last minute.
Did I miss some good examples of this? Feel free to comment.
These kind of people infuriate me.
They are better than everyone else, they think, so butt right in front of you. Well not me. I have been know to give them the “single digit” if you know what I mean.
Those “crazies” are pretty unpredictable…these drivers are way rude, but I get too concerned about dealing with a “crazy” that I fume silently rather than do anything rash…
Another place I constantly come across these rude drivers is at the kids’ schools when I’m dropping them off or picking them up. I’m always joking with the kids and say, “I didn’t know it was ‘Drive With Your Head Up Your Butt’ Day! I guess I didn’t get that email.” They laugh.
