Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!! I love this story! I cry every time too. It just goes to show you, a little kindness and understanding can truly make a difference in someone's life. Often you have no idea the issues people are dealing with in their private lives, but a smile, a kind word or a little extra attention might be the only bright spot in someone's day.

I've heard this story before. It made me cry again though. I had something similar happen to me last year. There are two girls at Shasta Elementary, they are twins, who came to the school last year. They live with their father and brother...their mother took off when they were just babies. They are both sweet girls, and I immediately tried to establish a relationship with them. Last Valentines Day, they both walked up to me and handed me a small box. I opened it and inside was a beaded necklace that they had made for me. I almost lost it right there. These girls don't have two dimes to rub together, but they are trying to make the most of what they do have. Sometimes I wish I could just take them home. I just try to be a positive female role model for them and continue to encourage them and keep myself open to them if they ever need an adult to talk to. I wish some of these other kids at school were like Teddy and would accept the help that their teachers and aides want to give them.
