On an August morning in 1976, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris. When you watch this your heart will start pounding as it is miraculous that he didn’t crash somewhere along the way.

No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit. There is no dialogue in this video, just the squeal of tires and the roar of the Ferrari V-12 engine. It is obvious the driver really knew the streets of Paris, because just when you think he is going to crash into something, he finds and alternate route he can take to keep going.

I find it interesting that they were using a Ferrari 275 GTB, see photo below, because I took a similar ride in one just like it through the orange groves of Orange County, CA before Anaheim Stadium was built. A friend had it out for a test drive before buying it and asked me to ride along with him.

I have to admit this video brought back memories of that ride. I couple of times, I thought I was going to die he was going so fast. Thanks for the ride, Murph, I still remember it.
