LOVE “Fifties” music!

From the big band music of the early 1950′s through Doo-Wop in the middle of the decade and on to the rockabilly of the late 50s the mood was definitely optimistic. The music was fast and had a catchy beat. Successful crooners like Frank Sinatra, Perry Como and Patti Page slowly gave way to upcoming artists like Bill Haley, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis and of course “The King” of Rock & Roll, Elvis Presley.

Teenagers weren’t just “kids” anymore. They had money to spend along with lots of energy, so they bought records and danced.

I was one of those kids and bought a new 45 record each week, at a cost of 99¢, then listened to them on the record player I had in my room.

If I was driving somewhere in my car, I tuned into Al Jarvis, who always played the hit songs of the day.
