Robbins Barstow, is an American dad whose home movie of his family’s vacation to Disneyland in 1956 was placed in the Library of Congress. They won the trip after entering a contest sponsored by the 3M corporation.
Watching his home movie brings back fond memories of my childhood in Southern California. My Mom took me and my sister, Shirley, there in 1956, a year after Disneyland opened. One of the videos below also shows Knott’s Berry Farm, which we went to often, because admission was free back in those days.
Times were much simpler then, and safer for your average American. I remember that my parents didn’t lock the front door when we left our house and usually left the keys in the car. We never had a problem.
I hope you enjoy these as I did.
